St. Wilfrid's C.E. Primary School are taking over the Museum of Science and Industry, and they're inviting you for the day to celebrate the Year of Engineering, and the history of Newton Heath and East Manchester.
Mather and Platt were a huge engineering firm in Newton Heath, and we have lots of objects made by them in our collection. Families will be able to follow a specially designed trail around the museum highlighting some Mather and Platt objects, become engineers themselves by creating their own paper machines, and see more things from our collection picked out by the St. Wilfrid's kids.
Come along, have some fun and find out a bit more about the city in which we live…
- Create marvellous mazes in the Paper Machines workshop between 14.00 and 16.00 in the Revolution Manchester gallery.
- Handle amazing objects from our collection chosen by St Wilfrid's between 11.00 and 15.00 in the Textiles Gallery.
- Meet fantastic female engineers and have a go at fun challenges between 10.00 and 13.00 in the Power Hall.
- Pick up St Wilfrid’s Machines Behind the Mills trail all day at the information desk.
